UNDERSTANDING COURSE CREDITS AT IHMH

At IHMH, we follow a flexible credit-based system designed to help learners track their academic progress, transfer qualifications, and plan their future educational or career pathways.

A “Credit” is a unit that reflects the total learning hours and effort a student is expected to invest in successfully completing a module or course. The credit system helps standardize academic evaluation across institutions and countries, making your learning achievements portable and recognisable.

What is a Credit?
  • A Credit Hour is based on the estimated number of hours a student spends on coursework—including lectures, self-study, assignments, and related learning activities.
  • In traditional classroom-based education, 1 credit equals 10–12 hours of learning.
  • In online or hybrid learning, the required study time is higher, with 1 credit requiring 20–24 hours of self-paced learning.
  • For example:
    • 1 Credit = ~30 hours of study (typically covered in 15 days at 2 hours/day)
    • 2 Credits = ~60 hours of study (completed in 30 days)
    • Over 12 months, a learner can earn 24 credits by studying ~2 hours daily
Why Are Credits Important?
  • Track Academic Progress: Credits are awarded after successful completion of modules, helping you see how far you’ve progressed.
  • Transferability: If you wish to pursue additional qualifications, credits can be transferred to similar programs (subject to approval).
  • Workload Transparency: Credits reflect the time and effort needed to meet learning outcomes.
  • Global Recognition: Most countries recognise credit-based learning, allowing for smoother transitions between institutions or while studying abroad.
  • Career Advantage: Course credits demonstrate documented learning and are often recognised as valid proof of upskilling when applying for jobs.
  • Modular Flexibility: Learners can pause, resume, or add modules at their pace, as credit accumulation is clearly defined.
Credit Transfers at IHMH

If you've completed previous higher education or certified training, you may be eligible to transfer previously earned credits. Our academic team will assess your documentation to determine how these can be mapped to our modules.

The credit-based structure ensures that your learning is measurable, transferable, and career-oriented. At IHMH, our goal is to ensure that your efforts lead to valuable recognition—both academically and professionally.
